Terms of Service
Effective date: 23 July 2025
Welcome to Friction! By installing the app or using the Service you agree to these Terms.
1. Definitions
- “Merchant” = the Shopify store owner installing Friction.
- “Shopper” = an end-customer visiting the Merchant’s storefront.
- “App” = Friction’s code and dashboards.
2. License
We grant Merchants a non-exclusive, revocable license to use the App on their Shopify store.
3. Fees & billing
Pricing is published at usefriction.com/pricing.
Shopify bills fees monthly (or annually if selected). Overage charges are calculated per visitor.
4. Acceptable use
Merchants must not:
- Use Friction for sites that sell prohibited content under Shopify’s AUP.
- Attempt to decompile or reverse-engineer the App.
- Store card data or health information via the App.
5. Uptime & support
- 99.9 % monthly uptime target.
- E-mail support (rohith@usefriction.com) Mon-Fri 09:00-23:00 PT.
- SLA credits: 5 % of monthly fee per 30 min continuous downtime beyond target (cap 100 %).
6. Data protection
We process Personal Information under the Privacy Policy.
Standard Contractual Clauses apply for data transfers outside the EEA.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as-is.” We disclaim warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Friction’s aggregate liability will not exceed the fees paid by Merchant in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Termination
Merchants may uninstall the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate for material breach, with 7-day notice.
10. Changes
We may modify these Terms by posting an updated version. Continued use > 30 days constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, USA.
Exclusive venue: courts of Wilmington, DE.
